"We wanted somewhere that felt secluded in nature, but still close enough to a town and had other people staying there so we felt safe for our first camper van experience. 4R Ranch Vineyards & Winery was the perfect place for this, as we felt far enough from the city and all of the other campers and the winery, but could still see signs of life in the distance. The venue also hosts weddings and has a lovely tasting room with vast hill country views. At night it felt very safe and cozy and during the day, the rolling hills and impressive windmills all felt like they came to life around the campsite. They have sites for tent camping, RV camping, van camping and more, with electrical hookup and water if you need it. It was quiet at night and the stars were very impressive."

"Meet the master winemakers, tour the carefully cultured vineyards, taste the award-winning wine, and most of all, relax and unwind. That’s our goal as we explore nine Cross Timbers Wineries you should know. The Cross Timbers Wine Trail, within the Cross Timbers ecoregion of Texas, spans from the Red River, south to Waco, east of I-35, and west to Abilene."

"Driving through the Portuguese countryside in the Alentejo wine region, you could be forgiven if you momentarily thought you were in the Texas Hill Countyr - the sunbaked hills of granite and limestone of eastern Portugal have a striking familiarity. With so much in common, it is no surprise that the grapes that thrive in Portugal have found a welcome home in Texas vineyards."

"The 4R Ranch Vineyards and Winery, owned by the Roper family of Dallas, won a Sweepstake medal in the specialty wine category for its 2017 Nectar Nero Texas Rosé. Only nine Sweepstake medals were awarded among the 6,800 wines entered from across the United States, Mexico and Canada, and Nectar Nero was part of the second vintage ever produced at 4R, a former cattle ranch in Muenster that is being slowly planted over to grapes."

"Nectar Nero, which earned a right to compete in the Sweepstakes phase of the contest by virtue of its Double Gold win in the “White Dessert/Late Harvest – Residual Sugar >3.50” went on to triumph over all other Double Gold winners in the 11 categories that fall under the Dessert/Specialty Wine umbrella. Thus, the Nectar Nero bested not only its immediate peers in the white dessert category, but all dessert wines, all ports, all sangrias and all fruit wines."

“This is the first time that any Texas winery or any wine made in Texas or any wine using Texas grapes has won the top spot in any of the six categories at the SFCWC competition,” co-owner Walt Roper said in the press release.

"In the Red River Valley about an hour from Fort Worth, Muenster’s Germanfest in late April (Brave Combo alert!) and a terrific old-fashioned butcher shop keep the town from being too sleepy. Now, you can enjoy a fine selection of pours at 4R Ranch Vineyards & Winery, about nine miles into the hilly, rugged landscape north of town."
